A broach machine is used for cutting a range of shapes not possible with other machines. Any broaching machine for sale will be designed to move a broach - a toothed tool - linearly in cutting unusual shapes such as keyways. The broach will cut either horizontally or vertically with a vertical broaching machine. The majority of broaching operations are powered by hydraulic broaching machine setups.
Broaching Machine Setup
The tool a horizontal broaching machine uses is much like a saw and removes material in the same way. A machine of this type will have a relatively simple setup where the tool is pushed against the work piece hydraulically in a vertical or horizontal motion. Horizontal machines are used for longer cutting operations.

A vertical broaching machine is the most common type used today, with an estimated 10% of broaching jobs completed on a horizontal broaching machine.
