FORD Tractor 800 Series Production History
The FORD Tractor 800 Series was a follow up to the FORD 600 Series. The new 40-horsepower tractors featured an improved 172

cubic inch engine and five-speed transmission as standard. The 800 Series included the FORD 820, 850 and 860 tractors. Dependent power take-off (PTO) was introduced with the 850, while the 860 was fitted with new live PTO. The 800 FORD tractor models were manufactured in Highland Park, Michigan from 1954 to 1957.
FORD 800 Tractor Specs
The FORD 820, 850 and 860 are fitted with 2.8-litre, four-cylinder FORD EAF gasoline or LP gas engines. Engines on the three models are liquid cooled. All 800 Series models are two-wheel drive tractors with a fuel capacity of 14 gallons or 53 litres. In addition to the FORD 800 tractor manual steering standard model, tractors with optional power assist steering are also found. All tractors have differential mechanical expanding show brakes and open operator stations. Although 800 Series models feature five forward and one reverse gears and a dry disc clutch, a major difference is transmission specs. The 820 has no transmission and PTO, while the FORD 850 and 860 boast an unsynchronised gear transmission and the 860 also has live PTO. While the 850 and 860 are equipped with three point hitches, the 820 does not. Buyers should carefully consult the FORD 800 manual for the specific model for sale to learn more.
FORD 800 Dimensions
All 800 Series tractors have an operating weight of 3,400 pounds or 1,542 kilograms. The FORD 820 has a wheelbase of 74.5 inches or 189 centimetres. It measures 113.6 inches or 288 centimetres long and 55.5 inches or 140 centimetres high. The 850 and 860 have the same dimensions, with a wheelbase of 75.18 inches or 190 centimetres. They are 121.8 inches or 309 centimetres long, 64.75 inches or 164 centimetres wide, and 59.3 inches or 150 centimetres tall.
