Nicolaus August Otto founded the engine factory, N.A. Otto & Cie, in Cologne in 1864. In 1937, it turned into the Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG. In 1890, they produced the first threshing device and four years later they produced the first Deutz tractor. The mass production of agricultural machines was introduced by this company in 1927. From then on, more and more farmers were using these high-quality tractors for their daily work. The merging with Klöckner resulted in re-branding the company as a much bigger company that not only specialised in agriculture but all kinds of other divisions of the automobile industry. DEUTZ FAHR is the brand, and part of the corporation, at the same time. Within the following year, the agricultural machines and tractors were further developed to fit the changing requirements of the agricultural industries. In 2013, two of the company's tractors won prises.
