In 1906 FRIZ was founded by its name giver Adolf Friz. The goal was the manufacture of machines for surface lamination of wood and wood derivatives. From the beginning the company included departments for production, administration, development and service in Weinsberg. Among its most innovative developments are the profile wrapping machine in 1936, the membrane press in 1937 and the line for surface lamination in 1960. In 1978 the first hydraulic membrane press hit the market and initiated the beginning of plastic profile wrapping as part of the company's production. A member of the Homag Group since 1980, FRIZ continuously introduces new machines, such as for the lamination of thick veneer in 2007 and the Urea based laminating system for thin boards in 2008.

The manufacture includes individual machines as well as production lines. The main products include machines and lines for surface lamination, such as laminating machines, glue spreading machines and profile wrapping machines that can work with wood, metal, plastic, papers, veneers, PVC and a lot more. The high-precision work of the individual FRIZ unit is based on important applications, such as the hot melt gluing unit and the slot nozzle application. FRIZ also offers custom-built machines and solutions for costly and slow profile changeovers. Customers are found in a variety of market segments, especially in the furniture and structural elements industry.
