MULTIVAC is a German company, and is based in the town of Wolfertschwenden, where it employs over 4,000 people. The firm has grown quickly since being founded by Sepp Haggenmüller in 1961. The small vacuum chamber workshop that Haggenmüller set up has become a global packaging giant with 65 subsidiaries. MULTIVAC was quick to see the potential gains from globalization, and is active in more than 140 nations, providing a combined service and sales operation. This means that the 900 consultants employed by the company can assist clients during the ordering process and afterwards, ensuring a seamless customer service experience. MULTIVAC also pioneered quality control systems for packaging operations, allowing for food production to be easily standardised and made more efficient. Its labelling solutions are commonly used by pharmaceutical firms to ensure that their products are safe and effectively used. The firm also prides itself on operating high-tech centres of production, and it operates two factories.
